Time-in-State Metric

Many traditional metrics are designed for discrete manufacturing, but MESA's interest in metrics extends into batch and continuous processing as well, where Time in State metrics can be critical. This material helps companies in these industries measure in ways that do not mask inefficiencies, but help improve the human decision-making processes so critical to success in processing.  This series of resources introduces the concept of Time-in-State Management and the related Time-in-State Metric implementation methodology.

White Paper #47: Time-in-State Management in the Process Industries

This document will introduce the concept of Time-in-State (TIS) Management as well as the related TIS Metric to be used to measure performance. The paper also compares the effectiveness of the TIS Metric (TISM) in continuous processes to that of Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE), more suited to discrete processes and packaging lines.

White Paper #50: Deploying Time-in-State Metric in Real-time to Improve Process Performance

This whitepaper explains how to implement a management and control methodology on the plant floor in real-time to improve the Time-in-State Metric (TISM). The whitepaper also explains what tools the operators will require to guide them in making the most effective decisions and how these tools need to be maintained and calibrated.

Time-in-State Management as alternative to OEE in the Process Industries

During the webinar, the Time-in-State Metric implementation and deployment methodologies are discussed and explained. The webinar shows how to implement a management and control methodology on the plant floor in real-time to improve the Time-in-State Metric. It explains what tools the operators will require to guide them in making the most effective decisions and how these tools need to be maintained and calibrated over time.

Time-in-State Mining Beneficiation

This case study illustrates how Time-in-State facilitated an 9% improvement in production throughput without major capital expenditure and / or equipment modification. Nkomati Mine has been using Time-in-State for several years – various improvements have been reported and this case study confirms the ability of Time-in-State to deliver continuous improvement.
